DISCIPLE 4 INTRODUCTION | DISCIPLE 1 | DISCIPLE 2 | DISCIPLE 3 | DISCIPLE 4 | Jesus in the Gospels DISCIPLE 4: THE TREE OF LIFE completes the four-phase DISCIPLE Bible study. Emphasis on the Psalms as Israel’s hymnbook and prayer book leads naturally to the emphasis on worship in the study. Through the whole study is the sense of living toward completion - toward the climax of the message and the promise, extravagantly pictured in the Revelation. The image of the tree of life frames the biblical story from Genesis to Revelation. Participants read the Writings in the Old Testament - Ruth, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, and Daniel. Participants will also read New Testament Scriptures - the Gospel of John; 1, 2, 3 John; James; Jude; and Revelation. “Being faithful community, we freely choose to be bound together as the people of God.” This is an example of one of the “Marks of Faithful Community” from DISCIPLE 4. As the Writings in the Old Testament (Esther, Nehemiah, Psalms, Proverbs and more!) and the writings of the apostle John in the New Testament are read, students are constantly reminded that life lived in faithful community is the answer to the “Human Condition.” A 32-week study.
